Dr. David Hampton, PE, joins the Milligan faculty from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, where he has taught engineering for over a decade. He served several years as an officer in the U.S. Navy and completed summer research fellowships with various NASA centers, the Army Research Lab, and Cambridge University. He holds engineering degrees from the U.S. Naval Academy and the University of Virginia, and a master’s in theology from Dallas Theological Seminary. At the Naval Submarine Training Center Pacific, Dr. Hampton served as a department head for about 50 navy instructors and then as the Curriculum and Instructional Standards Officer. He is a member of several professional engineering organizations and the American Society of Engineering Education. He is well-experienced with both the curriculum and the curriculum objectives required for the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). Dr. Hampton will begin teaching mechanical engineering at Milligan in fall 2017.
