Milligan musical groups hold community concert


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (October 31, 2002) -The Milligan Singers, the Milligan College Keyboard Ensemble, and the Milligan College Handbell Choir will present a free community concert on Tuesday, November 5, at 7:30 p.m. in the Seeger Memorial Chapel at Milligan College.

The Milligan Singers, a women’s choir, will perform songs from a variety of styles and periods, including sacred, classical, contemporary and pop. The group is directed by Carlene Eastridge, assistant professor of music. Christy Lewis, a senior music major from Piney Flats, Tenn., will accompany the choir of 18 singers. The students are from a variety of areas, including Florida, Ohio, Georgia, Indiana, New Jersey, Tennessee and as far away as India.

The Milligan College Keyboard Ensemble, also directed by Eastridge, will entertain audiences with a woodwind arrangement of Mozart’s “Eine Kleine Nachtmusik.” The student ensemble uses electronic keyboards to perform orchestral and contemporary keyboard literature.

The Milligan College Handbell Choir is directed by Dr. David Runner, professor of music. This year’s repertoire includes works by Morris, Davis, Waldrop, Kinyon, Lamb and McChesney.
