‘Here’ showcases senior graphic design portfolios

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (April 8, 2019) – Milligan College senior graphic design majors will present a design showcase from April 14-25 in the Milligan Art Gallery located inside Derthick Hall. An opening reception will be held on Sunday, April 14, from 2-4 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

The exhibit, titled “Here,” will feature works by several local students, including Janae Rangel, of Elizabethton; Kaci Sams, Erwin; Samantha Steadman, Johnson City; and Gloria Vazquez, Limestone.

“We wanted to connect our work through the show’s name, ‘Here,’ because we have different backgrounds and experiences,” said Rangel. “While our work reflects our own perspectives, this theme unites the work we have created as college students and allows our personalities to mesh.”

The showcase will display each designers’ creative skills in digital illustration, print design, type design, package design and other digital media.

“The exhibit not only features projects from upper-level graphic design courses, but it also includes work the students have created for the Milligan community and organizations throughout our region and abroad. Our seniors’ portfolios include pieces created during internship, work and study abroad experiences offered through our program,” said Art Brown, assistant professor of communications. “I’m proud of the work Janae, Kaci, Samantha and Gloria have created at Milligan, and I’m excited to have them share their portfolios in a gallery setting.”
