David Blevins

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 26, 2018) – David Blevins, Ireland Correspondent for Sky News, will speak on Wednesday, Oct. 3, at 6:30 p.m. in Milligan College’s Hyder Auditorium. This event is free and open to the public.

Blevins’ presentation, “How Protestants and Catholics Stopped Killing Each Other,” will address his first-hand account of the religious conflict between Protestants and Catholics in Northern Ireland and his reporting on their journey to peace. Blevins’ presentation will include clips of television coverage throughout this process and explanations of Irish literature and lore.

Blevins also will discuss truth telling in the public square and his belief that professionals with religious convictions belong in newsrooms globally.

In his 22 years with Sky News, Blevins has reported from 10 different countries, received a nomination for a Royal Television Society Award and received acclaim from both sides of the political divide in Northern Ireland for his balanced and impartial journalism. Over the span of his career, he has interviewed two United States Presidents, three Irish Presidents, four British Prime Ministers and five Irish Prime Ministers.

He received his diploma in journalism and obtained his graduate degree in theology. He returned to the news business after graduate school, realizing journalism was his highest calling.

Blevins’ visit is made possible through Milligan’s study abroad partnership with the New York City Semester in Journalism offered through the Phillips Journalism Institute at The King’s College. The partnership allows Milligan students an opportunity to study journalism for a semester in New York.
