MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (February 1, 2016) — Milligan College will present its annual Valentine’s Day tradition, “Sweet Sounds: Dessert Cabaret,” featuring an evening of entertaining performances and desserts on Friday, Feb. 12, at 7:30 p.m. in the college’s Walker Auditorium located in Seeger Chapel.

The evening will feature four of Milligan’s music ensembles, Heard Mentality, Heritage, the String Quartet and the String Trio, along with a variety of other vocalists and instrumentalists.

Tickets are $15 for table seating, $10 for overflow seating, and may be reserved by calling the Milligan music office at 423.461.8723. Limited seating is available, and remaining tickets will be sold at the door.

“This cabaret will feature many of our talented students performing jazz, pop and musical theatre standards in a relaxed atmosphere,” said Noah DeLong, assistant professor of music at Milligan. “Also, those attending will be treated to a delicious dessert buffet as well as punch, coffee and hot chocolate.”

Highlights of the evening will include performances by senior music major Laura Mixon, junior music major Riley Prickett and a violin solo by freshman violin student Jonathan Guy. The TBA Girls, who include Tiffany, Brianna and Amanda Florian, are current Milligan juniors who also will be performing.

The evening’s musical selections range from favorites by The Beatles and popular hits like “Thinking out Loud” by Ed Sheeran to pieces from musicals including “Cry Baby” and “She Loves Me.” Ensemble selections include “Moon River,” “Java Jive” and “Longest Time,” sung by Heard Mentality, as well as “My Heart Will Go On,” “Baby You Can Drive My Car” and “When You Say Nothing at All,” performed by Heritage.

Also, the Milligan String Trio composed of Jonathan Guy, Katherine Siglin and Grace Gemar will provide serenading sounds during the dessert intermission.

“With entertaining music and tempting desserts, we think this will be a fantastic event for people to include in their Valentine’s Day plans,” said DeLong.
