LMU and Milligan announce partnership

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (May 6, 2015) — Representatives of Milligan College and Lincoln Memorial University (LMU) signed an articulation agreement on Wednesday, May 6, opening the door for a seamless transition for Milligan graduates to pursue their interest in law at the LMU-John J. Duncan, Jr., School of Law (LMU-DSOL) in downtown Knoxville.

LMU President B. James Dawson and Milligan President Dr. Bill Greer signed the agreement on behalf of their respective institutions at Milligan’s Little Hartland Welcome Center.

“We feel that our program of legal education is perfectly suited for students from both colleges,” said Dawson. “We are interested in attracting students from schools that provide their students with an excellent education and we know Milligan graduates are well prepared to succeed.”
Greer also is pleased with this new opportunity available to Milligan graduates who are interested in pursuing a law degree.

“LMU’s goal to serve the Appalachian region is complementary to Milligan’s own Christian mission of preparing students as servant leaders in their communities,” said Greer. “We are excited about this opportunity to work with LMU and prepare the next generation of law students who are working towards a greater goal.”

The agreement outlines a streamlined admission process for Milligan baccalaureate degree holders at LMU-DSOL and establishes several scholarship opportunities, as well as a significant discount on tuition if students meet certain academic requirements. Additionally, LMU-DSOL will work with representatives from Milligan to inform their students about the process of applying to law school and provide resources to help them prepare for the Law School Admission Test.

LMU-DSOL is located in Knoxville’s Historic Old City Hall Building. The law school is an integral part of LMU’s values-based learning community and is dedicated to preparing the next generation of lawyers to provide sound legal service in the often underserved region of Appalachia and beyond.
