Milligan professor cross-examines nature of work

Phil Kenneson

Kenneson, PhilMILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Sept. 25, 2014) — Milligan College Professor of Theology and Philosophy Dr. Phil Kenneson will deliver a lecture titled “Cross-Examining Work: Why the Church Needs a More Robust Theology of Work” in the college’s ongoing Faculty Lecture Series.

The event will be held Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 7 p.m. in Hyder Auditorium located in Milligan’s Science Building. The lecture is free and open to the public.

The lecture will address how people think about the nature of work from a Christian point-of-view.

“Most people spend the majority of their waking hours during adulthood engaged in some kind of work, yet we often reflect relatively little on it,” said Kenneson. “I want to encourage attendees to reflect carefully on some of the primary cultural assumptions that frame and underwrite our everyday views of work, as well as explore some of the central theological convictions of the Christian faith that may call these assumptions into question.”

The Faculty Lecture Series provides students and other members of the Milligan community a glimpse into the active world of academic research and writing at Milligan.
