Milligan announces new faculty and staff


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (August 20, 2014)—The Milligan College office of academic affairs announced several new faculty and staff members for the upcoming 2014-2015 academic year. New faculty are as follows:

  • Dr. Brian Eisenback joins Milligan’s faculty as associate professor of biology. He holds a Ph.D. in entomology from Virginia Tech and previously served as a biology professor at Bryan College.
  • Shonna Lane joins the faculty as assistant professor of nursing. She holds a Bachelor of Science in education from Virginia Intermont College, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from East Tennessee State University and a Master of Science in Nursing from King University (Bristol, Tennessee). She comes to Milligan from Franklin Woods Community Hospital, where she has served most recently as nurse manager for emergency and cardiopulmonary services.
  • Dr. Allysha Martin will serve as assistant professor of Spanish and humanities. She completed a Ph.D. in contemporary Latin American literature this year at the University of Nebraska at Lincoln.
  • Dr. Greg Matthias joins Milligan’s faculty as assistant professor of education. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in biology and a Master of Science degree in natural resources from the University of Wisconsin. He completed a Ph.D. in urban education, educational administration, and curriculum and instruction from the University of Wisconsin. He also has 15 years of experience as a life sciences teacher at high schools in Wisconsin and Hawaii.
  • Jo Rita McMurray will serve as assistant professor of nursing. She holds Bachelor of Science in Nursing and a Master of Science in nursing education degrees from ETSU. She comes to Milligan from Mountain States Health Alliance, where she has served most recently as a registered nurse with a certification in pediatrics. She also has served for some years as a clinical instructor for Milligan and ETSU.
  • Trini Rangel will serve as assistant professor of human performance and exercise science. He comes to Milligan from Houghton College (Houghton, New York), where he served on the faculty since 2008. He will soon complete his Ph.D. in health psychology at Walden University (Minneapolis, Minnesota).
  • Heather Vaccaro will serve as instructor of business administration. She completed her MBA at Milligan and served most recently in Milligan’s office of enrollment management.
  • Shauna Nefos Webb will join the Milligan faculty as assistant professor of counseling and psychology in January 2015. She is in the final stages of her Ph.D. program in counseling and student personnel services at the University of Georgia.

New staff members include:

  • David Baker serves as digital resources and web development specialist in Milligan’s P.H. Welshimer Memorial Library. Baker holds a Bachelor of Science degree in computer science from the University of Virginia at Wise.
  • Lindsay Kenderes serves as information resources librarian and college archivist. She received a Master of Science degree in library science, archives and record management specialization from Indiana University.
  • Carla McKinney serves as a faculty administrative assistant. A Milligan alumna, she previously served for 14 years as administrative assistant at Grandview Christian Church in Johnson City.
  • Anne Reever Osborne joins the library staff as user services librarian. She most recently served at ETSU as INtopFORM librarian in support of their QEP Implementation Process. She previously served as assistant library director for distance learning at Tusculum College and has held librarian positions at several community colleges.
  • Jeff Smith joined Milligan’s staff as director of the office of diversity services. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in behavioral science from Athens State University (Athens, Alabama) and a Master of Science in sociology from ETSU. He will complete his Ed.D. at ETSU this summer. Smith has served as adjunct instructor of sociology at ETSU and at Northeast State Community College.
