MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (Aug. 7, 2014) — Each year,  Milligan College and Emmanuel Christian Seminary’s faculty and office staff leave their desks to pick up a paintbrush, rake or bag of mulch to assist physical plant staff with some final beautification before students arrive the following week.

The annual Campus Work Day will take place tomorrow, Aug. 8, before Milligan students begin moving in on Aug. 16 with classes beginning Aug. 20. Emmanuel’s fall orientation starts Aug. 21 with instruction beginning on Aug. 25.

“This annual tradition is our chance to say thank you to Milligan’s housekeeping, landscaping and physical plant staff,” said Milligan President Dr. Bill Greer. “By working side by side as a community for a few hours, we can all prepare to welcome our students back to Milligan and Emmanuel by making the campuses as beautiful as possible.”

The work day will kick off with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. in Milligan’s McCormick Dining Center located in Sutton Hall. After breakfast, employees will divide into groups and complete a checklist of indoor and outdoor projects. Projects will include landscaping and cleaning around both Milligan and Emmanuel campuses since the schools entered into a management contract that includes, among other areas, Milligan’s physical plant resources.

The work day will culminate with a lunch at noon in Milligan’s McMahan Student Center.
