Milligan, Emmanuel prepare for annual campus work day

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Aug. 8, 2013) — Milligan College and Emmanuel Christian Seminary’s faculty and staff will take a break from their normal work routines tomorrow, Aug. 9, for a work day to help with the final touches of sprucing up the campuses for the fall semester.

Campus work day, typically held the week before students return, is an annual event at Milligan. Milligan students begin moving in on Aug. 17. Emmanuel’s fall orientation starts Aug. 22.

This is the first year Emmanuel has participated in the work day. Earlier this year, Emmanuel and Milligan entered into a management contract that includes, among other areas, Milligan’s physical plant resources.

“Work Day is a fun tradition for Milligan’s faculty and staff as we prepare to welcome our students back to campus,” said Milligan President Dr. Bill Greer. “This year, I am excited that Emmanuel is joining us. I am grateful for the work done by Milligan’s housekeeping, landscaping and physical plant staff. They make Milligan beautiful each and every day, and now their efforts extend to Emmanuel’s campus. This annual tradition is our chance to say thanks to them by working side by side as a community for a few hours.”

The work day will kick off with a continental breakfast at 8 a.m. in Milligan’s McCormick Dining Center located in Sutton Hall. After breakfast, employees will divide into groups and complete a checklist of indoor and outdoor projects. Projects will include landscaping and cleaning around both campuses.

The work day will culminate with a lunch at noon in Milligan’s McMahan Student Center.
