Milligan announces awards for Juried Art Exhibition


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (April 30, 2013) — Milligan College recognized several students for their outstanding work in the college’s annual Juried Art Exhibition.

The exhibit opened April 28, and remains on display through Friday, May 3, in the Milligan Art Gallery, located in the lower level of Derthick Hall. It is free and open to the public.

Awards of Excellence were presented to: sophomore Abi Bethea of Eastanollee, Ga.; senior Helen Biard of Asheville, N.C.; sophomore Kassie Erwin of Roan Mountain, Tenn.; senior Kate Handzlik of Chalfont, Pa.; junior Krista Knudtsen of Manila, Philippines; and junior Charlotte Sue of Grayslake, Ill.

Biard and Sue also earned Awards of Merit.

Other Awards of Merit were presented to: senior Holly English of Kingsport, Tenn.; junior Monica Fife of Elizabethton, Tenn.; senior Will Major of Johnson City, Tenn.; and junior Meaghan Roland of Lexington, Ky.

The juror was Sarah K. Davis, the recently retired executive director of the Johnson City Area Arts Council.
