‘Interaction’ photography exhibit to open at Milligan

Helen Biard's PhotographyMILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (April 12, 2013) — “Interaction,” a photography exhibit by Milligan College senior Helen Biard, opens Sunday, April 21, from 2 to 4 p.m., in the Milligan Art Gallery, located in the lower level of Derthick Hall.

The exhibit will remain open through April 27. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

“Everyone interacts with people in different ways,” said Biard, an Asheville, N.C., native who is majoring in fine arts (photography) and sociology.

In 2012, Biard went on a mission trip with Team Expansion to Bosnia for three months. While there, she took many photographs of her interactions with the people of the country.

“I find that one of the ways I interact with people is through photography. My show is a collection of interactions—interactions with my family and interactions with the people of Bosnia,” she said.

Biard’s exhibit will include both digital and film photography.

In March, Biard was selected as a finalist in the Photographer’s Forum Magazine 33rd Annual College and High School Photography Contest. Her photograph will be published in a book titled “The Best of College and High School Photography 2013” and will appear in the Winners Gallery on the Photographer’s Forum website.

Biard’s winning photograph will be on display at the “Interaction” exhibit.
