Milligan hosts ‘Buff Day’ for prospective students

Be a Buff Day!

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (March 18, 2013) — Whether you’re a “history buff,” a “sports buff,” a “science buff,” or an “arts buff,” high school seniors and college transfers will learn what it’s like to be a Milligan College Buff at an open house event on Saturday, April 13.

Named “Buff Day” in honor of Milligan’s mascot, the Buffaloes, this open house will provide prospective students and their parents with a snapshot of campus life packed into one day. It includes opportunities to meet one-on-one with students and faculty, campus tours, information sessions, and break-out sessions highlighting Milligan’s more than 30 academic majors.

“We want Buff Day to be an opportunity for prospective students to see where they fit in at Milligan,” said Tracy Brinn, director of enrollment management at Milligan. “We are a diverse community made up of ‘buffs’ with many interests that together make this a special place. From our academic programs to our student life activities, Milligan has something for everyone.”

Buff Day begins with check-in and a continental breakfast at 8:30 a.m. After a welcome session, students may choose two sessions that meet their needs. Options include sessions on financial aid and scholarships (scholarships are still available for fall 2013), student life, and servant leadership and internships. There also are sessions for transfer students and parents.

After lunch, the “Academic Buff” sessions begin. Students and their parents will break out into their areas of interest and speak with professors and students about specific programs. Then, they will have time to meet with their admission counselor and take a campus tour.

Students who register for Buff Day also are invited to attend one or more of Milligan’s activities and events taking place April 12-13, including complimentary admission to the Milligan Theatre Department’s production of “The Odyssey,” the Multicultural Affairs Fashion Show, a softball doubleheader, several music recitals and a hike with the Buffalo Ramblers.
