MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Jan. 31, 2013) — Several of Milligan College’s vocal ensembles will join forces to offer a delightful and diverse concert with songs of love and romance on Friday, Feb. 15, at 7:30 p.m. in Milligan’s McMahan Student Center. The concert is free and open to the public.

“A Valentine’s Cabaret” concert is part of Milligan’s Family Weekend, Feb. 15-17. The annual Family Weekend is an opportunity for parents and siblings to see what college life is like at Milligan, as well as explore the Tri-Cities area. Performers in Friday’s concert will include the Milligan Women’s Chorale, directed by Anne Elliott; Heard Mentality, Milligan’s all-male a cappella ensemble directed by Dr. Charlotte Anderson; and Heritage, Milligan’s premier a cappella ensemble directed by Noah DeLong.

In addition, the concert will feature numerous Milligan music students performing solos and duets.

Many other special events are taking place on campus throughout Family Weekend, including a performance by the Johnson City Symphony Orchestra in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium of Seeger Memorial Chapel at 7:30 p.m., on Feb. 16. Concert and ticket information is available at www.jcsymphony.com.

Visitors who will be on campus for Family Weekend are not required to pre-register, but a registration table hosted by the Milligan Parent Council will be open in Milligan’s McMahan Student Center to welcome families on Friday, Feb. 15, from 3-6 p.m., and Saturday, Feb. 16, from 9-10 a.m. At registration, parents will receive a packet, including a gift from their host, a Friday night meal voucher, and coupons for area attractions and restaurants.

On Friday, dinner in Milligan’s McCormick Dining Center begins at 5 p.m., followed by an all-dorm open house from 7 p.m. to midnight.

Saturday begins with a dean’s list ceremony at 10 a.m. in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium of Seeger Memorial Chapel for families of all students named to the academic dean’s list. This event is followed by a brunch from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in McCormick Dining Center.
