Letter from President Greer

Dear Milligan family,

Today, we have suffered a great loss, with the passing of a dear friend.

Of course, Don was a man who loved his God and his family above all else. He took great joy in working alongside the love of his life, Clarinda, and he was justifiably proud of his daughter Amy, her husband Brad, and his grandsons, Eli and Hayden.

And while his love for Milligan was evident to many in the remarkable leadership that can be seen in the successes that occurred during his presidency, few people realized just how much Don Jeanes deeply loved Milligan College.  The people of Milligan College – its faculty, staff, alumni, trustees, donors, and students, occupied his whole heart and his whole mind. He loved each member of this community just as he would any member of his family.

Don was my mentor, my friend, my closest confidant. Rarely did a week go by that I did not talk to Don.  He understood, more than anyone else, the challenges and joys of being Milligan’s president. I will miss him enormously.

Don would, however, expect us to carry on the great mission of his beloved Milligan College. And that we will do, together.

There will be a celebration of life service at Milligan later this week. I’ll share the details with you as soon as they become available.

Edwina and I join you in prayer for the Jeanes family and the Milligan community during this time of sadness. We love you, and will be with you soon.

Bill Greer
