‘Let Go’ to open April 22 at Milligan

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (April 17, 2012) — Milligan College senior V. Kelsey Ellis of Bristol, Tenn., will present her senior art exhibit, “Let Go,” April 22-27 in the Milligan Art Gallery, located in the lower level of Derthick Hall.

There will be an opening reception on Sunday, April 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. The reception and exhibit are free and open to the public.

“Let Go” is a selection of Ellis’ most recent pieces including drawings, paintings and mixed media works. Together these pieces communicate an idea of growth that comes from embracing inspiration and “letting go” of inhibitions. The majority of Ellis’ work embraces the ideas of beauty and growth, and includes flowers and other natural imagery.

The inspiration behind “Let Go” comes from organic and natural elements, as well as Ellis’ love for Pre-Raphaelite and Art Nouveau-styled art.

“I wanted my works to communicate both my passion for and understanding of art that I feel have flourished during my study at Milligan,” said Ellis, a fine arts major.
