Milligan students present work at Alpha Chi convention


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (April 10, 2012) — Three Milligan College students and two faculty sponsors represented the Tennessee Nu chapter at the super-regional convention of Alpha Chi, a national college honor society, March 22-24 in Baltimore.

Students Megg Jones of Mason, Ohio, and Emma Rees of Redford, Mich., made presentations at the convention. Jones, a senior English and humanities major, presented “Poetry of Finding.”  Rees, a senior fine arts major, presented her work, titled “Eclectic Emma: Selections from a Photographic Exhibition.”

Also attending the convention were Gretchen Allie of Charlotte, N.C., the chapter’s student voting delegate to the convention; Dr. Bob Mahan, professor of accounting and the chapter’s voting faculty delegate; and Dr. Lori Mills, professor of psychology. Mahan was elected secretary of Region III of Alpha Chi. Mills serves as secretary for the National Council of Alpha Chi.

The convention, attended by 404 delegates representing 84 chapters, featured scholarly, creative and artistic presentations by more than 200 students, and a national literacy service project of providing books to a local elementary school. Alpha Chi has some 300 chapters in 45 states and the District of Columbia. Members are in the top 10 percent of juniors, seniors and graduate students in all academic fields.
