MILLIGAN COLLEGE, Tenn. (March 8, 2012) — Milligan College will hold its annual Spiritual Renewal Week March 12-17, with special guest Dean Trune, director of Intentional Impact Living Ministries.
Trune will speak on Tuesday, March 13, and Thursday, March 15, at 11 a.m. in Milligan’s Mary B. Martin Auditorium in Seeger Memorial Chapel. Both events are free and open to the public.
Intentional Impact Living Ministries aims to help people connect more deeply with God and to help individuals join God in his mission. The ministry focuses on blessing the 21st century church through seminars, coaching, mentoring, resource development, and training volunteers for coaching and making disciples.
The theme of this year’s Spiritual Renewal Week is “Rooted,” which is based on Ephesians 3:16-19. Trune will lead the campus through spiritual disciplines to emphasize how to become more rooted in Christ.
“The hope is that through Spiritual Renewal Week, people will come to see the need to be rooted in looking to the cross, and through that, they will find hope and love,” said Jonathan Herd, co-chair of the spiritual life branch of Milligan’s Student Government Association.
After graduating from the University of Michigan with a bachelor’s degree in business administration and a master’s degree in engineering, Trune began a career at General Motors. After 12 years with GM, however, Trune’s heart turned to ministry and he became campus minister at Michigan State University, where he served for the next 11 years. Since 1995, Trune has established campus ministries around the world and conducted seminars to help people connect with God more intimately.
In addition to Trune’s visit, Milligan’s Spiritual Renewal Week includes a variety of student activities and worship services.
The week of activities will commence with a student-led worship service on Monday at 7 p.m. in Milligan’s McMahan Student Center. On Tuesday, Trune will lead students in a Concert of Prayer at 7 p.m. in the lower level of Milligan’s Seeger Memorial Chapel. Student activities also will include a devotional breakfast on Friday and a 24-hour prayer retreat at Buffalo Mountain Camp, beginning Friday evening.
