‘Tales from Buffalo Creek’ returns to Milligan

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Nov. 22, 2011) — Students in Milligan College’s Introduction to Storytelling class will share their talents at the fourth annual “Tales from Buffalo Creek” on Thursday, Dec. 8, at 7 p.m. in Milligan’s Gregory Center for the Liberal Arts. The event is free and open to the public.

“I’m very proud of the students’ progress and the creativity they display in their stories,” said Dr. Bruce Montgomery, professor of communications and business and a member of the Jonesborough Storytellers Guild.

The event will feature stories performed by six students, including local students Derek Smallwood of Bluff City, Tenn., and Tony Jones of Johnson City, Tenn. Other performers include Ian Burt, of Madison, Va.; Ryan Evans of Owensboro, Ky.; Darcie DeLong of Indianapolis, Ind.; and Cassandra Linthicum of Poquoson, Va.

Stories drawn from personal experiences, Bible stories and children’s literature will entertain, inspire and touch audience members of all ages.
“This is a great event to help the students refine their storytelling skills and entertain the Milligan community in a family-friendly way,” Montgomery said.
