Alathea to perform at Milligan

Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 30, 2011) — Alathea, a Christian folk duo known for original music and Appalachian influences, will perform at Milligan College on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at 11 a.m. in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium in Seeger Memorial Chapel.

Alathea (the Greek word for “truth”) was formed in 1997 in Johnson City, Tenn. Milligan alumna Mandee Radford and Cristi Johnson still reside in the mountains of East Tennessee, where they find inspiration for their sound, instrumentation and lyrics.

Last year, Alathea released its sixth full-length recording titled “Tremble.” The duo won We are Listening’s 2010 Singer/Songwriter Award for the song “Broken Record.”

Alathea will return to campus on Saturday, Oct. 29, for a coffee house concert in Milligan’s McMahan Student Center. Doors open at 8 p.m.; music begins at 9 p.m. Both events are free and open to the public.
