Oaks to speak at Milligan


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Aug. 25, 2011) – Pastor and storyteller Tommy Oaks will be the guest speaker for Milligan College’s convocation service on Tuesday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m. in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium of Seeger Memorial Chapel.  The event is free and open to the public.

Oaks, a former campus minister at Milligan, has more than 40 years of experience in ministry and storytelling. For the past 25 years, he has traveled as a full-time evangelist. His stories have been told everywhere from civic clubs to storytelling festivals and school systems.

He received his bachelor’s degree from Johnson Bible College and earned a Master of Divinity degree from Emmanuel School of Religion (now Emmanuel Christian Seminary) and a second master’s degree in storytelling from East Tennessee State University, the first such degree awarded by the school. He also holds a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee.
