Milligan welcomes new faculty this fall


Milligan College, TN (Aug. 24, 2011) — This fall, Milligan College welcomes five new full-time faculty members and a new fieldwork coordinator for its occupational therapy program:

Brian D. Baugus
will serve as assistant professor of economics. Baugus earned a Ph.D. and Master of Arts degree in economics from George Mason University (Fairfax, Va.). He also has an MBA from Owen Graduate School of Management at Vanderbilt University (Nashville, Tenn.) and a Bachelor of Arts degree from McDaniel College (formerly Western Maryland College). He has taught at various institutions, including King College (Bristol, Tenn.), East Tennessee State University (Johnson City, Tenn.), Salisbury University Perdue School of Business (Salisbury, Md.) and Chesapeake College (Wye Mills, Md.). He has also served with the Maryland Department of Legislative Services, where he wrote more than 200 fiscal notes, reports and budget analyses, all of which were published as official state records.

Beth Davis Crouch
will serve as assistant professor of nursing. She completed a Master of Science degree in nursing from the Tennessee Board of Regents through East Tennessee State University. She has a Bachelor of Science degree in nursing and in psychology from ETSU. Crouch has been a member of Sigma Theta Tau International Honor Society of Nursing since 2009. She has served as an adjunct instructor at Milligan since 2007. Before she was appointed to the full-time faculty at Milligan, Crouch worked as a clinical educator in Acute Medicine Services at the Johnson City Medical Center.

Noah DeLong
will serve as assistant professor of music. DeLong is completing his Doctor of Musical Arts degree in choral conducting and pedagogy at the University of Iowa (Iowa City, Iowa). He holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in music and mathematics from Taylor University (Upland, Ind.) and a Master of Music in choral conducting and vocal performance from Ball State University (Muncie, Ind.). He has conducted various choral groups at churches and colleges including the University of Iowa, Good News Bible Church (Iowa City, Iowa), Earlham College (Richmond, Ind.), Ball State University, Westminster Presbyterian Church (Muncie, Ind.) and Taylor University. In addition to his teaching and conducting experience, he has performed as a tenor soloist and accompanist for numerous choirs and solo vocalists.

Angela Hilton-Prillhart
will serve as assistant professor of education. Hilton-Prillhart completed her Ph.D. in school psychology in August 2011 at the University of Tennessee (Knoxville, Tenn.). She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in history and English, as well as a Master of Education degree in special education from East Tennessee State University. She has written several articles for publications such as “Psychology in the Schools” and “Journal of Evidence-Based Practices for Schools.” She has also presented numerous peer-reviewed national and regional presentations. In May, she presented at an international conference of the International Reading Association. Her professional experience includes positions as a child development specialist, mentor teacher and emotional disabilities teacher. She most recently served as a school psychology intern with Frontier Health Systems in Kingsport, Tenn.

Nathaniel Wentzel
will serve as assistant professor of physics. Wentzel holds a Ph.D. in physics from Lehigh University (Bethlehem, Penn.). He also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in physics from Wheaton College (Wheaton, Ill.) and a Master of Science degree in physics from Georgia Institute of Technology (Atlanta, Ga.). Wentzel has completed postdoctoral work at Pennsylvania State University and was most recently a research associate, completing postdoctoral work at the University of Colorado (Boulder, Colo.). He has submitted several articles to peer-reviewed publications including “Journal of Chemical Physics” and “Soft Matter.” He previously served as teaching assistant at Lehigh University, a graduate teaching assistant at Georgia Institute of Technology and lab teaching assistant at Wheaton College.

Kristen S. Booth
serves as the fieldwork coordinator for Milligan’s Master of Science in occupational therapy (M.S.O.T.) program. She earned her Bachelor of Science and M.S.O.T. degrees from Milligan. Most recently, she served as an acute care therapist at the James H. Quillen Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Mountain Home, Tenn. She has also worked as an occupational therapist, acute care therapist and behavioral therapist for several facilities in the Tri-Cities, and has served as a fieldwork clinical instructor for Milligan’s M.S.O.T. program.
