Founder of sex-addiction ministry to speak at Milligan

Milligan College TN (Feb. 17, 2011) — Craig Gross, the founder and leader ofXXXchurch.com, will speak at Milligan College on Monday, Feb. 21, at 8:30 p.m., and again on Tuesday, Feb. 22, at 11 a.m. in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium of Seeger Memorial Chapel. Both events are free and open to the public.

XXXchurch.com is a leading-edge ministry that works to get churches talking about the issues of pornography and offers help to those struggling with porn and sex addiction. The ministry provides tools and teaching to bring awareness, openness and accountability to those affected by pornography.

The website offers tools to combat pornography, including software called X3watch, which monitors web browsing activity, notifies accountability partners, sends scheduled email accountability reports and more. XXXchurch.com also offers links for parents, teens, spouses, men, women, pastors and churches.

Local church leaders say the message of XXXchurch.com is powerful and relevant to many types of individuals and groups — from students to churches.

“The problem of pornography and porn addiction is prevalent in the world, and it has crept into churches, particularly affecting church leaders and vocational ministers,” said Dr. Tom Jones, executive director of Stadia.

Stadia is a national church-planting organization with an office on Milligan’s campus. Jones travels across the country assessing young leaders and preparing them for ministry in church plants. Pornography is often an issue that arises as he guides church leaders and couples through the assessment process.

“We see leaders having issues with pornography, and we recommend that every leader have accountability tools in place,” Jones said. “In addition to accountability relationships, XXXchurch.com is a useful tool we suggest.”

In the seven years since it began, XXXchurch.com has had more than 70 million visitors to the website and almost half a million people have used the X3watch accountability software. Gross has been featured in many national publications and television shows and is the subject of an award-winning documentary. He has also written seven books. His latest books, “Eyes of Integrity” and “Pure Eyes,” were released in the fall of 2010.

Although XXXchurch.com is an online community, representatives from the non-profit organization tour the world, speaking at colleges, churches and community centers. A Milligan student group called “Breaking the Silence” was instrumental in bringing Gross to speak at Milligan.

“Breaking the Silence is a student group dedicated to expressing love to the sexually exploited,” said Brad Wallace, Milligan’s campus minister. “Earlier this year, Breaking the Silence hosted a screening of several short films by XXXchurch.com, documenting lives that have been exploited and torn apart by pornography. So Craig’s visit is an extension of that outreach.

“This is a real issue, and we encourage the community to come and be part of the dialogue about this issue that affects us all,” Wallace said. “Craig is an engaging speaker you won’t want to miss.”
