'Pieces of Me' exhibit opens Feb. 13

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Feb. 8, 2011) — “Pieces of Me,” an exhibit opening Sunday, Feb. 13, at Milligan College, takes visitors on a photographic journey from downtown Elizabethton, Tenn., to the slums of Nairobi, Africa.

The exhibit by Milligan senior Danielle Carmen Metz will be on display in the Milligan College Art Gallery, located in the lower level of Derthick Hall, from Feb. 13-20. There will be an opening reception on Feb. 13, from 2-4 p.m. It is free and open to the public.

“Pieces of Me” features photographs from several series by Metz, including photos of a slum in Nairobi, Africa, classic cars from Elizabethton Cruise-In car shows and selections from a photojournalistic series on the town of Moscow, Ohio.

“A show like this really forces me out of my comfort zone,” Metz said. “My pictures represent pieces of me and my life.”

In addition to digital color prints, the display will also feature black and white photography.
