Tommy and John Thomas Oaks to speak at Milligan

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (January 16, 2009) – Pastor and storyteller Tommy Oaks, along with his son, John Thomas, will be the guest speakers for Milligan College’s chapel service on Thursday, Jan. 22, at 11 a.m. in Seeger Memorial Chapel.

Oaks, a former campus minister at Milligan, has over 40 years of experience in ministry and storytelling. For the past 20 years, he has traveled full-time as an evangelist. His stories have been told everywhere from civic clubs to storytelling festivals and school systems.

Oaks received his bachelor’s degree from Johnson Bible College and earned a master of divinity degree from Emmanuel School of Religion and a second master’s degree in storytelling from East Tennessee State University, the first such degree awarded by the school. He also holds a Ph.D. from the University of Tennessee.

John Thomas, a widely recognized actor and composer, authored the popular musical Star Queen, a comedic retelling of the story of the biblical book of Esther. A graduate of the University of Tennessee, John Thomas has had several of his works produced.

The event is free and open to the public.
