“Wonderful Wednesday” will be a Marvelous Monday this year

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (April 21, 2008) — Milligan College ‘s annual surprise holiday will take place on a Monday this year. Day classes have been cancelled for Monday, April 21, and a variety of social activities and games have been planned.

This traditional “holiday” for the Milligan community, which is not always on a Wednesday despite the campus holiday’s name, is a college tradition dating back to the late 1960s. A veil of secrecy surrounds the exact date and theme of the surprise holiday each year. Activities are planned by the Campus Activities Board.

This year “ Marvelous Monday ” is themed “Wonderful WOK Day.” Festivities begin Monday morning at 10:30 a.m. with a “Kung pao Chow” brunch in the cafeteria, followed by the “Lo-Mein Eat-off” no-hand noodle eating contest at 11 a.m.

Ultimate Frisbee, basketball, dodgeball and volleyball tournaments will take place throughout the afternoon, as well as the traditional waterslide at Buffalo Creek and a “Shanghai Shiver” pool of ice competition.

Evening classes will meet as scheduled.
