Milligan Christmas concert to benefit local charity

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TENN. (Nov. 28, 2007) — Milligan College will present “A Milligan College Community Christmas” on Sunday, Dec. 9, at 8 p.m., in Seeger Memorial Chapel. The concert is free but a $5 donation is suggested with all proceeds benefiting East Tennessee Christian Home, a Christian-based residential and educational program located in Elizabethton, Tenn., for adolescent girls at-risk.

“The Milligan College Community Christmas is our annual holiday event which showcases the talents the music department and provides an opportunity for audiences to enjoy the sounds of the seasons and to give to a well-deserving charity,” said Dr. Kellie Brown, area chair and associate professor of music at Milligan. “This is an event that we look forward to all year.”

The community Christmas concert features the Milligan College Concert Choir, Milligan College Orchestra, Milligan College Brass Ensemble and Milligan College Women’s Chorale. Along with Brown, the concert is directed by John Wakefield, associate professor of music.

Much of the music will be familiar songs of the season. At the evening’s closing, the musical ensembles will invite the audience to join in singing favorite traditional hymns of the season, followed by a special candle lighting ceremony.

The doors to Seeger Chapel will open at 7:30 p.m. for seating. For additional information contact the Milligan Music Office at 423.461.8723 or music@milligan.edu.
