Broadway comes to Milligan College


Milligan College (September 19, 2007) –  Bringing a combination of song and dance to campus, the Milligan College Concert Choir will present the third annual Broadway Revue, “No Business Like Show Business,” on Sept. 28 and 29 at 7:30 p.m. in Seeger Chapel’s Walker Auditorium at Milligan College.

The revue includes choreographed selections from “Beauty and the Beast,” such as “Belle,” “No Matter What” and “Be Our Guest.” Also included are songs from great shows of the 1930s, including “Of Thee I Sing,” “Dancing in the Dark” and “Get Happy,” as well as selections from Irving Berlin musicals ? ranging from “There’s No Business Like Show Business” and “Blue Skies” to “God Bless America.”  The show also will include some upbeat spirituals and barbershop songs from the musical “Music Man.”

The show is directed by John Wakefield, associate professor of music at Milligan, choreographed by Robin Bailey Beals from Gay Whitt School of Dance in Johnson City, and accompanied by pianist Joel Buckner. Buckner will also be featured in a Count Basie piano selection.
