Local students earn degrees


MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (May 24, 2007) — Several local students were awarded degrees from Milligan College during their commencement ceremony held Sunday, May 6. These students include:

JOHNSON CITY

Megan Aldridge of Johnson City, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree in human performance and exercise science with an emphasis in physical education. Aldridge is a 2003 graduate of Science Hill High School.

Lauren Anderson of Johnson City, Tenn., with a bachelor of arts degree in art and photography. Anderson plans to complete a master of science degree in occupational therapy program at Milligan College.

Lisa Burkette of Gray, Tenn., with a master of education degree in elementary education. Burkette is a 1984 graduate of Science Hill High School.

Jair Collie of Johnson City, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree in human performance and exercise science.

Robert Cox of Johnson City, Tenn., with a master of business administration degree. He is a 1998 graduate of Science Hill High School and is currently employed at TPI Corporation as a director of graphics, print and internet.

Amanda Friday of Gray, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree in early childhood education.

Tracy Good of Johnson City, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree, cum laude, in early childhood education. She is a 1990 graduate of Science Hill High School.

Angela Harkleroad of Jonesborough, Tenn., with a master of business administration degree. She is a 1987 graduate of Elizabethton High School.

Tom Jones of Johnson City, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree, magna cum laude, in business administration and a minor in legal studies.

Allison Langrel of Gray, Tenn. with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. Langrel is a 2003 graduate of Daniel Boone High School. She is currently employed at Johnson City Medical Center as a registered nurse.

Jennifer Lockner of Johnson City , Tenn. , with a master of education degree. Lockner, a 1994 graduate of Happy Valley High School , has accepted a position to teach third grade in Georgia ‘s Cobb County School System beginning this fall.

David Martin of Jonesborough, Tenn., with a master of business administration degree. Martin is currently a consulting software engineer at Siemens.

Christina Mathers of Gray, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. She is employed a Holston Valley Emergency Room as a registered nurse.

Amy Parkerson of Johnson City, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. Parkerson is a 2002 graduate of Science Hill High School and is employed at Johnson City Medical Center as a registered nurse.

Marvin Perhne of Johnson City, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. Perhne is a 1993 graduate of Unicoi County High School and is currently employed as a maintenance supervisor at American Water Heater.

Ryan Reynolds of Johnson City, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. Reynolds is a 2003 graduate of Science Hill High School.

Andy Ross of Johnson City, Tenn., with a bachelor of arts degree in history and a minor in Bible. Ross will complete a summer internship at Reba Place Fellowship in Chicago, Ill.

Jon Tuell of Johnson City, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree in business administration. Tuell, a 1993 graduate of Science Hill High School, plans to purse a master of business administration from Milligan College.

Rachel Vines of Johnson City, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree in psychology and a minor in Bible.

KINGSPORT

Marcus Capenter of Kingsport, Tenn., with a master of business administration degree. Carpenter is a 1989 graduate of Dobyns-Bennett High School.

Robert Halsey of Kingsport, Tenn., with a master of business administration degree.

Randy Harkleroad of Jonesborough, Tenn., with a master of business administration degree. Harkleroad is a regional sales manager at Carrier.

Deborah Hassebrock of Gate City, Va., with a bachelor of science degree, magna cum laude, in nursing. She is a 1985 graduate of North West High School in Indianapolis, Ind., and is currently employed at Johnson City Medical Center as a registered nurse.

Randall Lane of Kingsport, Tenn., with a master of business administration degree. Lane, a 1979 graduate of Sullivan Central High School, is a controller at Edwards and Associates, Inc.

Zachary Leonard of Church Hill, Tenn., with a bachelor of arts degree in Bible and youth ministry. Leonard is a 2003 graduate of Tri-Cities Christian School.

Brandi Phillips of Kingsport, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. Phillips is a 2001 graduate of Sullivan South High School.

Mark Sewell of Kingsport, Tenn., with a master of business administration degree. Sewell is currently employed at American Water Heater Co. in Johnson City as a distribution manager.

Jason Valdez of Kingsport, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree in computer information services. Valdez is a 1996 graduate of Dobyns Bennett High School.

ELIZABETHTON

Cristy Gouge of Elizabethton, Tenn., with a bachelor of arts degree in humanities and English. Gouge is a 2003 graduate of Unaka High School.

Robert Kitchens of Elizabethton, Tenn., with a bachelor of arts degree in fine arts with an emphasis in theater and a minor in photography. Kitchens has been cast for “Trading Paint,” a new play that will run this summer at Barter Theatre.

Gregory Odom of Hampton, Tenn., with a bachelor of business administration degree. He is currently employed at Hampton Christian Church as a youth minister, as well as Milligan College as part of the landscaping/grounds crew. Odom is a 1996 graduate of Hampton High School.

Aleta Morgan of Roan Mountain, Tenn., with a bachelor of science in nursing degree. Morgan, a 1992 graduate of Hampton High School , is currently employed with Mountain States Health Alliance as a registered nurse.

Holly Pearson of Elizabethton, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree in biology and a minor in exercise science. Pearson is a 2003 graduate of Elizabethton High School and plans to attend graduate school to receive her doctorate of physical therapy.

Julie Simerly of Elizabethton, Tenn., with a bachelor of arts degree, summa cum laude, in English and a minor in business administration and photography. Simerly is a 2003 graduate of Elizabethton High School.

Thomas Winningham of Elizabethton, Tenn., with a bachelor of arts degree in humanities.

Brittany Williams of Elizabethton, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree is early childhood development. Williams is currently employed at the Medicine Shoppe as a certified pharmacy technician.

 

BRISTOL

Krissi Denton of Bristol, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree, cum laude, in early childhood development and a minor in Bible. Denton is a 2003 graduate of Sullivan East High School and plans to complete the master of education program at Milligan College.

Tara Earhart of Bristol, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree in nursing. Earhart is a 2003 graduate of Tennessee High School and a member of the nursing honor society. She is currently employed at Johnson City Medical Center as a cardiac intensive care nurse.

Amanda Moore of Bristol, Tenn., with a bachelor of arts degree, cum laude, in English and a minor in psychology and journalism. Moore is a 2003 graduate of Tennessee High School and plans to teach English in Vietnam for the summer.

Suzanne Richardson of Abingdon, Va , with a bachelor of arts degree in theater. Richardson is a 2003 graduate of Abingdon High School.

Andrew Waruszewski of Blountville, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree is computer information science. Waruszewski is a 2004 graduate of Tri-Cities Christian School and plans to attend graduate school at E.T.S.U.

 

ERWIN

Candace Shelton of Flag Pond, Tenn., with a bachelor of science degree in biology. Shelton is a 2003 graduate of Unicoi County High School.
