Best-selling author Carol Kent to speak at Milligan Ladies Conference

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (January 24, 2007) — Best-selling author and speaker Carol Kent will present “Celebrate! He is Our Hope” at the third annual Associated Ladies for Milligan (ALM) ladies conference on Saturday, Feb. 17, in Seeger Chapel on the campus of Milligan College.

Kent will share the transformational power principles she learned while facing devastating news that forever changed her life. In 1999, her twenty-five year old son, a graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy and a lieutenant in the navy with an impeccable military record, shot and killed his wife’s ex-husband. Through this devastating set of circumstances, God taught her transformational power principles — principles that bolster the faith of audiences everywhere.

A popular international public speaker best known for being dynamic, humorous, encouraging, and biblical, Kent is president of Speak Up Speaker Services, a Christian speakers bureau, and founder and director of Speak Up With Confidence seminars, a ministry committed to helping Christians develop their communication skills. A former radio show co-host, she has often been a guest on Focus on the Family and is a frequent speaker at Women of Virtue events across the country.

Kent has authored numerous best-sellers, including “When I Lay My Isaac Down,” “Becoming a Woman of Influence” and “Speak Up With Confidence.” She also co-authored the “Designed for Influence” Bible study series.

Lighting up the stage in a mini-concert will be Broadway vocalist and local gospel talent Loretta Bowers of Elizabethton, Tenn. Christy Dickison, children’s minister at Avoca Christian Church in Bristol, Tenn., will be accompanied by pianist Tempa Bader to lead conference attendees in worship.

Ticket prices for the conference are $30 for adults and $15 for students. Lunch will be provided. All proceeds benefit student scholarships at Milligan College.
