Students arrive for new academic year

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (August 18, 2006) — New and returning students will arrive at Milligan College this weekend as the college prepares to kick-off another academic year.

Student leaders and college staff will be on-hand throughout the day Saturday to help new students move into the residence halls and acclimate to college life.

The new students will officially become part of the Milligan community Saturday at the college’s traditional Matriculation ceremony at 8 p.m. in Seeger Memorial Chapel. The formal academic service, involving all faculty and administration, is a time when students sign their names to the official history books of the college. The service is open to all parents and family members. An ice cream social will follow at 9 p.m. where new students and their families can meet the college faculty.

Residence halls open to returning students on Sunday, Aug. 20, following a campus worship service in Seeger Chapel.

Orientation activities continue throughout next week, with classes starting Wednesday, Aug. 23. For more information and a detailed schedule, visit http://www.milligan.edu/admission/newstudents/orientation.htm or call 423.461.8981.
