Milligan expands campus ministry program

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN ( January 24, 2006 ) — Milligan College has announced the hiring of Matthew Swain as a part-time assistant to campus ministry.

Swain will serve alongside Campus Minister Nathan Flora. Some of Swain’s duties will include working directly with the Milligan College Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) as a mentor, as well as chaplain for Milligan athletic teams. Swain began serving as a volunteer chaplain to the Milligan baseball team in the fall of 2005.

“It is already nice to see the impact of Matthew’s passion for ministry to athletes,” said Flora.

Swain earned a bachelor of science degree in management from Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga., where he played baseball from 1999 to 2003.

Along with his duties at Milligan, Swain is a student at Emmanuel School of Religion in Johnson City, pursuing a master of divinity degree with a concentration in New Testament studies.

Swain is a native of Reidsville, Ga., and currently lives in Elizabethton.
