Milligan to host African Children’s Choir

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN ( November 1, 2005 ) — The world renowned African Children’s Choir will perform at Milligan College on Friday, November 4, at 7:00 p.m. in Seeger Chapel.

The choir is comprised of children aged seven to 11. Each child in the choir has lost one or both parents to poverty or disease. The choir performs throughout the world hoping to bring awareness of the plight of children in Africa due to war, famine and disease.

The 2005 tour was established in hopes that the choir members could serve as ambassadors for all children in Africa who have become orphans because of the AIDS epidemic, bringing awareness and raising financial support.

The choir recently performed at the National Religious Broadcasters convention where they sang with Christian recording artist, Rebecca Saint James. They have also performed with Wyclef Jean on “The Late Late Show” and “The Tonight Show” with Jay Leno, where they sang the title song to the movie, “Hotel Rwanda.”

The concert, sponsored by the Milligan College Arts Council, is free and open to the public. An offering will be taken to help cover travel expenses as well as to raise money for the choir’s mission.
