Milligan College celebrates homecoming

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (October 24, 2005) — Milligan College will host its annual Homecoming this weekend, Oct. 28-29, on the college’s campus near Elizabethton. Hundreds of alumni, parents, students and friends of the college are expected to visit the Tri-Cities and attend the weekend’s many events.

Eight alumni will be honored and recognized for notable achievements Friday evening at the 6:30 p.m. Celebrate Milligan dinner.

A reception for all alumni will follow at 8:30 p.m. in the Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. This will be the first opportunity for many to reunite and visit in an informal setting.

One of the most important things to alumni is seeing and visiting their former faculty mentors. This will occur Saturday morning at the Faculty-Alumni Gathering in the 2 nd floor lobby of Derthick Hall.

One of the main attractions on Saturday is the fifth annual Homecoming Parade at 2 p.m., featuring floats representing student organizations, the class of 1955 and the cast of Oklahoma! The parade route will follow the main road through campus. Inflatable attractions will also add to the fun for children from 11:00a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

Throughout the weekend, students and alumni have the opportunity to participate in various athletic events, including a 5K Run/2.5K Walk at 9 a.m., and the annual Alumni vs. Students Football Game at 10 a.m. on Saturday.

Saturday afternoon’s schedule is also busy with class reunions for the Classes of 1955, 1985, 1990 and 1995. There is also a reception for the President’s Associates at the historic Taylor/Phillips House on the Milligan College campus from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.

Saturday evening will conclude at 7:30 p.m. with the weekend’s feature event, the family-friendly musical Oklahoma! in Seeger Chapel. The cost of the musical is $12 and tickets may be purchased in advance at the Milligan College Bookstore or at the door the night of the show. Members of the general public are welcome.

All meal events and the feature event are ticketed events. All other events are free. The Alumni Office asks that all alumni register in the McMahan Student Center on Friday from 2:30 – 5 p.m. or Saturday from 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m.
