Milligan helps send medicine to tsunami victims

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (January 14, 2005) —Several Milligan College students and personnel will help in a local relief effort to send medicines to tsunami victims in Asia and East Africa on Tuesday, Jan. 18, at the King Benevolent Fund, Inc. from 1-5 p.m.

“One of the greatest threats now to tsunami victims is disease. Our students and personnel will sort and pack medical supplies that will be flown to the victims,” said Beth Anderson, director of the Institute for Servant Leadership at Milligan College.

The medicine relief project is one of several service projects that Milligan College will do in honor of the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. In lieu of classes on Tuesday, the campus will spend the afternoon in service to the local community.

The King Benevolent Fund, Inc. is a nonprofit Christian organization committed to sharing God’s love and compassion here at home and around the world by assisting elderly widows within the community, feeding the hungry throughout the region and providing medications and medical supplies to the sick and hurting around the world.
