Milligan campus to spend day in service honoring MLK Jr.


MILLIGAN COLLEGE , TN (January 10, 2005) — Milligan College will honor and remember the life and legacy of Martin Luther King Jr. as the “Picture of a Servant Leader” through a series of events next week, culminating in a Day of Service on Tuesday, Jan. 18.

In lieu of classes on Tuesday, the campus will attend a 10 a.m. convocation and reflection service in Seeger Chapel, share in a campus brunch in the McCormick Dining Hall, and then spend the afternoon in service to the local community.

“This day of service is part of Milligan’s ongoing dedication to serving others. Martin Luther King Jr.’s life and dreams reflect Milligan’s mission of servant leadership and it is appropriate for us to dedicate ourselves to serving those around us,” said Beth Anderson, director of Milligan College ‘s Institute for Servant Leadership.

Milligan students and personnel will be volunteering at the following organizations on Tuesday, Jan. 18 (more details and times for each location TBA):

· Second Harvest Food Bank
