MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (August 31, 2004) —Robert Kitchens, a sophomore theatre major at Milligan College and a native of Elizabethton, lit up the stage of the Pioneer Amphitheater in the vast Palo Duro Canyon, near Amarillo, Texas, this summer.

Kitchens was in the ensemble cast this summer for “TEXAS Legacies” in the conclusion of chapter one, “The Adventures of a Lifetime.” This musical drama is written by Lynn Hart and produced by the Texas Panhandle Heritage Foundation, which produced Texas Musical Drama for 37 years.

A few of Kitchen’s favorite roles have been Dr. Lymna Sanderson in “Harvey,” Nick Bottom in “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and Lieutenant Rooney in “Arsenic and Old Lace.”

His childhood dreams are coming to life, as last semester he played in “Pirates of Penzance,” a collaboration of Milligan College and East Tennessee State University , and now as a cowboy in “TEXAS Legacies.”

TEXAS Legacies was performed in the Pioneer Amphitheater from June 3-Aug. 21.
