Beth Anderson to head Milligan program

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (July 14, 2003) – Beth Anderson of Johnson City has been named director of the Institute for Servant Leadership at Milligan College, announced Milligan President Don Jeanes. Founded in 2000, the Institute promotes Christian servant leadership through educational programs, opportunities for involvement, and collaboration and recognition of servant leaders.

Anderson, who previously served as director of the American Heart Association of Northeast Tennessee and worked on the ministerial staff of Munsey Memorial United Methodist Church, will coordinate the Institute’s efforts and oversee the Servant Leader Experience program at Milligan.

“We are delighted to welcome Beth to head this exciting program. Her background and demonstrated strengths in organizational management will be very valuable, and she is passionate about the cause of Christian higher education,” said Milligan President Don Jeanes.

Funded by a $2 million grant from the Lilly Endowment, Inc., the Servant Leader Experience is a comprehensive program that provides increased opportunities in student leadership development, career counseling services, internships, student scholarships, faculty development and mentoring, cooperative programs and interdisciplinary programs.

“All of this is designed to help our students reflect on how their faith is related to their career choices and what it means to be ‘called’ to lives of service,” said Jeanes.

Anderson, who holds a bachelor of business administration from East Tennessee State University and is currently completing her master of arts in professional communications from ETSU, began her new position at Milligan July 1. She will be working with the college’s faculty and staff to develop and launch the Servant Leader Experience program this fall.

“I am excited to be part of this incredible opportunity at Milligan,” said Anderson. “This program will be shaping the way Milligan serves its students and helps produce Christian leaders for the marketplace.”
