MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Feb. 20, 2003) – Six Milligan College students were selected to be finalists in the Photographer’s Forum 23rd Annual Student Photography Contest out of 20,000 entries nationwide.

Sophomore Diane Hostetler of North Lawrence, Ohio, was awarded fourth place and junior Amber Neill of St. Peters, Mo., was awarded an honorable mention. The finalists and winners will be published in the Best of College Photography Annual 2003. Senior Dinah DeFord of Kingsport, Tenn., junior Dimitri Jansen of South Venice, Fla., senior Jason Harville of Springboro, Ohio and senior Nathaniel Poling of Melbourne, Fla. were also all finalists in the contest.

Hostetler’s fourth place image will also be published in the May/Summer issue of Photographer’s Forum Magazine.

“I am very proud of them,” said Alice Anthony, assistant professor of the practice of art. “It speaks well of Milligan students to have work chosen for this competition.”

The Photographer’s Forum Magazine sponsors two photography contests a year, with one contest held in the spring for the general public and one in the fall for high school and college students. The magazine is published quarterly and includes interviews with master photographers, feature articles on commercial and fine art photography, book reviews, a portfolio section, various photographic information and workshops.

Milligan students have submitted entries to the contest for the past seven years. Through those years, 30 students have been juried into the competition. Last year, Lesley Jenkins of Mountain City, Tenn. received an honorable mention.
