Milligan to present female version of The Odd Couple

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (February 17, 2003) – The Milligan College Theater Department will present the female version of The Odd Couple by Neil Simon on Feb. 26, 27, 28, and March 1 in Sub7 Coffeehouse in McMahan Student Center.

Successful on Broadway, television and in the movies, the original Odd Couple is based on two roommates who were complete opposites in personality. Later, Simon put a spin on his hit story by writing The Odd Couple (female version), which involves two female lead characters – Florence Unger and Olive Madison.

When Unger is separated from her husband, she turns to best friend Olive Madison for help. After deciding to room together, the two must learn to live together despite being complete opposites. Unger is neat, clean, tidy, and always on time, while Madison is disorderly, untidy and never on time.

“This production is guaranteed to make you laugh until your sides hurt,” says 2002 Milligan graduate Adam Meyers, who is directing Milligan’s spring production while theatre professor Richard Major is on an academic sabbatical.

The play stars senior Christan McKay as Unger and sophomore Missie Mills as Madison. Other members of the cast include junior Jessica Carter, sophomore Danisha Bethune, junior Laura Jones, senior Emily Fuller, senior David Guyer and sophomore Josiah Potter.

Lighting designer is Scott Hardy of Light Impressions, set designer is Tim Bomgardner, and senior Kristen Speak serves as stage manager.

“I am very excited about making my directorial debut at Milligan,” said Meyers. “The cast for this production are exceptional, and many of them are appearing for the first time on the Milligan stage.”

Tickets are available at the Milligan Bookstore and are also available at the door, although seating is limited. Tickets are $5.00 for adults and $2.50 for children 12 & under. Admission includes a cup of coffee and one refill. All performances start at 7:30 p.m.
