Milligan Jazz Ensemble to perform

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Apr. 22, 2002) – The Milligan College Jazz Ensemble will perform a spring concert on Monday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m. in Seeger Chapel.

The 19-piece organization is under the direction of Milligan College music professor, Rick Simerly.

“The Milligan College Jazz Ensemble could be considered both a school ensemble as well as a community jazz band,” said Simerly. “This ensemble serves as an outlet for Milligan students, other college and high school students, as well as adults from throughout the region who have a desire to play and perform jazz. We have had a great response from the college and community. Hopefully, our rehearsals are not only learning situations, but just plain old fun for everyone.”

The group will be performing works by Rob McConnell and The Boss Brass, Clifford Brown, Dizzy Gillespie, David Sanborn, Weather Report, and Benny Goodman. ETSU trumpet instructor, Dr. David Champouillon, will be a featured soloist on the beautiful ballad, Spring Can Really Hang You Up the Most.

Admission to the concert is free and open to the public. For more information about the Milligan College Jazz Ensemble Concert, please contact the Music Office at 423-461-8723.
