Chamber Orchestra to present spring concert

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Apr. 15, 2002) – The Milligan College Chamber Orchestra, under the direction of Dr. Kellie Dubel Brown, will present its spring concert on Friday, Apr. 19, at 7:30 p.m., in Seeger Memorial Chapel.

Dr. Brown is a member of the music faculty at Milligan College, where she serves as the founder and director of the Milligan College Chamber Orchestra. In addition, Dr. Brown is a frequent performer throughout East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia and serves as the assistant concertmaster for the Kingsport Symphony Orchestra. Brown has studied at Furman University, East Tennessee State University, and Appalachian State University, and holds a bachelor’s degree in music education, a master’s degree in violin performance, and a doctoral degree in higher education administration with an emphasis in music administration.

The spring concert will feature works by G.F. Handel, Carol Rabinowitz, Henry Purcell, and Leroy Anderson, as well as the premier of Dr. Brown’s composition, Prelude and Variations for String Orchestra. Milligan student Lindsey Holloway and music professor John Wakefield will be guest soloists. The Milligan College String Quartet will also be featured.
