Dr. David Runner to host organ recital on Friday

Regionally renowned organist Dr. David Runner, professor of music at Milligan College, will perform works by Bach, Bouvard, Howells, Delius and Decker at a faculty organ recital this Friday, March 1, in Seeger Chapel on the Milligan campus. Also featured on the program will be trumpeter David Champouillon, a member of the music faculty at East Tennessee State University.

Runner, who has taught at Milligan since 1972, has performed organ recitals, lectures and workshops in organ and church music throughout the area. He has been published in The American Organist and The Diapason magazines and is a member of the Johnson City Civic Chorale, the American Guild of Organists, the National Association of Schools of Music, and the Association of Christian College Music Educators.

Runner holds a bachelor of music degree from Boise State University and a master of music and doctor of musical arts from the Eastman School of Music of the University of Rochester.

The recital is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Friday, March 1, and is free of charge and open to the public. For more information, contact the Milligan music office at (423) 461-8723.
