MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (Feb. 12, 2002) — Several hundred families are expected to visit the Tri-Cities this weekend as Milligan students welcome their families for Family Weekend 2002.
Planned by the sophomore class officers, Family Weekend provides an opportunity for parents and siblings to sample college life, as well as to tour the Tri-Cities area. Events are planned throughout the weekend, but families are encouraged to engage in regional sightseeing as well.

The weekend kicks off Friday with registration in the Student Center from 3 to 7 p.m. “My World,” a student arts exhibit, opens in Ground Zero Gallery in the basement of Derthick Hall from 1 to 5 p.m. Dinner is “on your own,” followed by an All Dorm Open House from 7 p.m. to midnight. An Honors Recital will be performed in Seeger Chapel at 7:30 p.m.

On Saturday, a Dean’s List ceremony and reception is scheduled for 10 a.m. in Seeger Chapel for families of all students named to the Fall 2001 Academic Dean’s List. Brunch in the cafeteria is served from 10:30 to 12:30. Families can browse in the Milligan Bookstore from noon to 4 p.m. Ground Zero Gallery is open from 1 to 5 p.m.

Saturday evening, the women’s and men’s basketball teams take on Brevard College at 5:30 and 7:30 p.m., respectively, in Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. A Coffee House from 9 to 11 p.m. in SUB 7 in the McMahan Student Center will conclude Saturday’s events.

Families are encouraged to attend a local church with their students on Sunday morning. Sunday afternoon, Milligan’s softball team hosts Mars Hill at 1 p.m. The student art exhibit in Ground Zero Galley will continue from 2 to 5 p.m.

Registration is recommended for the weekend, but families are welcome to attend as many or as few events as they like. For more information about Family Weekend 2002, please call the Student Life Office at 423-461-8735.
