SGA names new chaplain & announces SGA Night in cafeteria

by Cory Hynek, PR intern

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (January 22, 2002) – SGA president Nevan Hooker announced this morning that sophomore Brad Parker has been appointed SGA chaplain. Parker replaces Amanda Ruble, who is currently enrolled at the Focus on the Family Institute in Colorado Springs, Colo., for the spring semester.

“It was a surprise and honor to be offered this position,” states Parker, who is from Bluff City, Tenn.

Hooker said he expects that Parker will make a good chaplain for the college’s student body.

“Brad is one of the most interesting persons I’ve met since I came to school at Milligan,” said Hooker. “He exhibits what I call Appalachian elegance or genuine Southern hospitality. He is definitely going to make a great chaplain.”

Parker says it is his hope to help the leaders realize their responsibility in setting an example to the Milligan community.

Hooker also announced that SGA will sponsor an SGA night in the cafeteria on Thursday, Jan. 31. SGA members will cook, serve, and wait on all who attend dinner. Students can familiarize themselves with all SGA representatives, including new staff members Parker. Students may also voice their opinions and concerns about various topics on Milligan’s campus during the dinner.

SGA exists to formulate and execute a Christian student government whose duties are to stimulate communication and cooperation among students, faculty, and administration. It also helps to coordinate student activities, to participate in the determination of College procedures, to labor in the interest of improving academic standards and to develop a greater spirit of progressive citizenship. SGA holds open meetings and anyone can attend and voice concern.
