Milligan Singers and Handbell Choir to Perform

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN-The Milligan College Music Department presents the Milligan Singers and the Milligan Handbell Choir in concert on Tuesday, Dec. 4, at 7:30 p.m. in Seeger Chapel on the Milligan College campus.

The Milligan Singers, an auditioned women’s choir, is directed by Carlene B. Eastridge, assistant professor of music, and accompanied by Christy Lewis, a junior music major from Piney Flats, Tenn. The evening will feature works from a variety of styles and periods, including classical, spirituals and light contemporary. The choir of 22 singers represents students from a variety of academic studies, including music, business, education, theatre and biology.

Milligan Handbell Choir, directed by Professor David Runner, performs at college and outside functions throughout the year. The choir was formed several years ago through a gift from Mrs. Ruby Gordinier of Louisville, Ky., of three octaves of Schulmerich handbells. This year’s repertoire includes change ringing, as well as familiar Christmas music and hymn arrangements.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, contact the Milligan College Music Office at 423-461-8723.
