Faculty and staff donate time and efforts

MILLIGAN COLLEGE, TN (August 10, 2001)—As students prepare to return to campus next weekend, Milligan’s faculty and staff will take a break from their normal routines tomorrow, Friday, Aug. 10, for the college’s annual Work Day and Faculty/Staff Picnic. The day is organized by college president Don Jeanes.

The day will kick off with a continental breakfast at 8:00 a.m. in the McCormick Dining Hall, where work assignments will be made. The employees will volunteer to paint, trim, weed, clean, and assist with various projects around the 145-acre campus.

“Maintenance crews, volunteers, and our alumni from throughout the eastern United States have worked all summer on campus improvements and preventative maintenance,” said Jeanes, who along with wife, Clarinda, has made the continual improvement of campus facilities and grounds one of his long-term objectives. “With the last-minute touches from the faculty and staff, the campus will be in peak shape for the students’ return.”

The Work Day will culminate in a 1:00 p.m. picnic lunch on the lawn next to the tennis courts for faculty, staff, and their families. Door prizes will be given out by President Jeanes as an expression of appreciation.

“We have a beautiful campus,” said Jeanes. “And the faculty and staff support is further evidence of the commitment and community spirit that we have at Milligan.”
