Dr. Jonathan Lenarz is an Assistant Professor of Sport and Exercise Science at Milligan University. His main areas of expertise are sport law and intercollegiate athletic leadership, and he primarily teaches courses in sport management at the undergraduate level.
Dr. Lenarz’s research focuses on college athletic director leadership effectiveness, which builds on his extensive background in both coaching and higher education. Prior to joining Milligan’s faculty full time, he served as a college soccer coach with teaching responsibilities. His professional journey has been shaped by a deep commitment to education and athletics, and he is currently completing his second doctoral degree (EdD in Sport Leadership) in addition to holding a JD.
Faith has been an ever-present source of strength and direction throughout Dr. Lenarz’s life. He made the decision to follow Christ as a youth, and attending a Christian college laid the foundation for his life of service in Christian higher education. It was there that he met his wife, and now both of their children are attending similar institutions. He feels blessed to serve at Milligan in a discipline that combines his educational background as well as his past professional experience.
