Website Keele Street Christian Church

To be Christ’s people from every nation proclaiming, “Jesus is Lord and Saviour.”

Keele Street Christian Church is a healthy urban church. We are best known for things like English as a Second Language classes and work with refugee settlement agencies. As a multicultural church, we have to be particularly aware of the fact that others come from different cultural and theological backgrounds. We take extra time to understand people’s backgrounds and account for different approaches to conflict, hermeneutics, and organization. It’s one reason we prefer missionary training and experience in our pastoral candidate.

Our Vision
To be Christ’s people from every nation proclaiming, “Jesus is Lord and Saviour.”

Our Mission
As Christ’s people in a multicultural city, led and empowered by the Holy Spirit, we will introduce people from all nations to Jesus and teach them to obey everything He taught.

Our Values
Scripture: We believe the Word of God is the ultimate authority for our faith and practice.
Love for God and Neighbour: We want to do what is in the best interests of God and others, both inside the church and out.
Love for God includes worship, obedience, prayer, teaching and proclamation about Him, and giving our time and talents in service.
Love for our neighbour includes evangelism, church planting, hospitality, caring for the poor, getting justice for the oppressed, and practicing reconciliation.

Our Neighbourhood
We are in Toronto’s Junction neighbourhood, formerly a railway junction and now a walkable area including Victorian homes, low- and high-rise buildings, and people from around the world. Close to High Park, Toronto’s largest. Convenient for public transportation.

Our Congregation
We have an average attendance of 100, on many Sundays including representatives from five continents. There is strong support of cross-cultural and international ministry work and (praise God) a stable budget. As an urban church, we have been populated primarily by immigrants to Canada or migrants within it. We have a strong Filipino population, many of whom are now coming in from different suburbs. Since COVID, though, we have seen a lot of growth coming from the neighbourhood itself, particularly through ESL.We are best known for things like English as a Second Language classes and work with refugee settlement agencies. We also open our facility as a voting station.
