Associate Minister

Big Spring Church of Christ is a Christian Church that has been serving the lower Gap Creek community since 1882. We are a small church with a big heart for the unchurched, and have been picking up kids in at-risk communities with our church bus for over eight years now. We experienced a bit of a reset during COVID and are working to build our outreach ministry back up, and we are looking for the right partner with a passion for the lost to help us make that happen.

We are looking for a passionate and energetic individual to partner with us in our small but growing ministry. The aim of this role will be to help integrate those participating in our Sunday evening program into the rest of the life of the church, especially our Sunday morning worship time. The ideal candidate will have a heart for reaching the unchurched, a desire to minister to the less fortunate, and feel called to minister to family, youth and children’s ministry.

Primary responsibilities would include:

• Working with volunteers to coordinate children’s church on Sunday mornings
• Directing the youth Sunday school program
• Coordinating Sunday evening youth programming
• Helping plan and execute special youth and children’s events.

This would include events planned in cooperation with other local churches, such as our shared Vacation Bible School and fall festival programs with Oak Grove Christian Church. This position is open to qualified applicants with a Restoration Movement background, including current students at Christian Church affiliated educational institutions, such as Johnson University, Milligan University, or Emmanuel Christian Seminary. This position can be made to fit the requirements of educational internships for any of the mentioned institutions as well.

Job Type: Part-time (10 hours a week, or more if needed)

Pay: $150.00 per week
